People that know me say I tend to try and justify things in fear of rejection, before I even do the thing I’m going to do. Trust me when I say this is no different!
I think it’s hard to say now a days to say that you “like food”, as frankly, most people do. Not only that, you’d die of malnutrition without it.
But honestly, I like the food in the way that I’d get excited if I tried a new type of hot sauce I hadn’t tried yet, or went to Borough Market and found a new type of cabbage. I’ve been known to hype about great strawberries, and I’m convinced my local bakery makes THE best sourdough. Everyone needs a hobby, right?!
It’s even harder starting a blog in 2017, in a world which people might describe as attention hungry, one which wants the quick food-porn fix scrolling through Instagram.
You won’t find any of that here. I’m not going to apply any labels to what I make, I don’t subscribe to any crazy diets, I hate the idea of ‘clean eating’, and I don’t plan to supply you with a list of pots and pans you might need to make a recipe.
There will be no ‘freak shakes’, or Instagram recipe videos that obsess over cheese, but you may end up seeing the occasional avocado toast and oozing egg photo.
I wanted to start this blog as a way for me to talk about what excites me in food, and perhaps spread some joy along the way.
Most posts will contain a picture, and a blurb about what I made, and basic instructions on how to throw it together. If you’d like to know more, you’re always more than welcome to get in touch and I’d be happy to walk you through the process of putting it together.
